A little bit of explanation here: this song was originally released on Parallel Lines in 1979, but this is a 1981 mix I have here that can be found on Best of Blondie. I have nothing much to say about this song except that it has always been in my subconscious, seeing how I was born in 1978. It's a wonderful song, and for those of you who knew of my recent breakup, I'm planning to use this as my anthem. This song can be found in way too many compilation albums, but is also available on the Blondie albums The Platinum Collection and Picture This Live (Limited Edition).

Song of the Week (4/19/99): Buildings Have Eyes
Artist: Electric Light Orchestra | Year Released: 1983

When I realized nobody except me was going to vote for a song released on the B-side of a single from a band that was best known for its achievement in the seventies, I decided to add an extra song-of-the-week for this week. This should also make up for the week I slacked because of the breakup (mine, not the band's). Since it was originally released as a B-Side to "Secret Messages," this song is not available on anything except for Afterglow: The Box Set. Though it is a costly $35, it was sooo worth it. I have to say, this is a great "poppy" tune--BMG members can get this box set for around $15.

Song of the Week (4/19/99): The Reflex
Artist: Duran Duran | Year Released: 1983

This is the song that was actually voted in by visitors to this site. Also released in 1983, this song was originally found on "Seven and the Ragged Tiger." Perhaps I should explain why this song and "Buildings Have Eyes" were included in this theme. "The Reflex" because Mannequins don't have any. "Buildings Have Eyes" because mannequins in store displays stare at ya. I don't think Amazon had "Seven...," but Duran Duran's greatest 80's hits can be found on Decade. For those who yearn some of their 90's hits as well, there is that semi-newly released album, Greatest.
